Youth Leadership Academy
The Youth Leadership Academy is designed to nurture the potential of young people within the Al Barakah Centre community, providing them with the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to become future leaders. This initiative aligns with the 10-year strategy’s focus on youth development, recognising the vital role that young people play in shaping the future of Campbelltown and the wider community.
The Academy will offer a range of programs, including leadership camps, mentorship schemes and career development workshops. By partnering with local schools, universities and businesses, the Academy will connect young individuals with experienced mentors who can guide them through personal, academic, and professional challenges. Leadership camps will focus on building resilience, teamwork and decision-making skills through interactive activities and real-life scenarios.
Additionally, the Academy will run entrepreneurship programs to inspire innovation and self-reliance. These programs will teach business fundamentals, from idea generation to marketing and financial management, encouraging participants to develop and pitch their own projects.
In addition to academic and career-focused initiatives, the Academy will prioritise personal development through community service projects, sporting groups and arts programs. These activities will promote social responsibility, cultural awareness and creative expression.
By cultivating a strong sense of identity, purpose and community engagement, the Youth Leadership Academy aims to create a generation of confident, capable leaders who will positively impact their communities.Family Support and Parenting Centre
The Family Support and Parenting Centre is a cornerstone project designed to strengthen family units within the Al Barakah Centre community. Recognising that strong families are the foundation of a resilient society, this initiative will offer comprehensive support services tailored to the diverse needs of parents and caregivers.
The Centre will provide a range of parenting workshops focused on effective communication, positive discipline strategies, and child development. Facilitated by experts in child psychology and family counselling, these workshops will equip parents with practical tools to navigate the complexities of raising children in today’s world.
Family counselling services will be available to support families facing challenges such as relationship conflicts, mental health concerns or behavioural issues in children. Trained counsellors will offer both individual and group sessions, creating a safe haven for open dialogue and problem-solving.
To enhance family connection and engagement, the Centre will integrate design thinking principles into its physical layout, ensuring spaces that cater to families’ unique needs. This includes a dedicated family area, a mothers-and-daughters space for shared activities and a children’s play area designed to encourage learning through play.
In addition to direct support services, the Centre will host family-oriented activities and events to strengthen bonds and promote healthy relationships. These may include parent-child workshops, family fitness classes and cultural events that celebrate diversity within the community.
Recognising the importance of early childhood development, the Centre will collaborate with local schools and early learning centres to provide educational resources and support for parents of young children. Topics will cover literacy development, early intervention strategies and preparing children for school success.
By nurturing strong, healthy family dynamics and providing purposefully designed spaces for families to thrive, the Family Support and Parenting Centre will play a vital role in building a supportive, connected community.
Skills for Life Learning Lab
The Skills for Life Learning Lab is an innovative project designed to equip community members with practical skills essential for personal growth and professional success. Aligned with the 10-year strategy’s focus on education and employment, this initiative will address gaps in essential life skills, enhancing opportunities for individuals of all ages.
The Learning Lab will offer a variety of workshops and courses covering key areas such as digital literacy, financial management, vocational training and language support. Digital literacy programs will teach participants how to use technology effectively, from basic computer skills to advanced software applications, crucial for today’s job market.
Financial management workshops will focus on budgeting, saving, debt management and investment basics, guiding individuals towards make informed financial decisions. These sessions will be particularly valuable for young adults, new migrants and families seeking to improve their economic stability.
Vocational training programs will provide hands-on experience in trades and technical skills, developed in partnership with local businesses and training organisations. This will create direct pathways to employment, apprenticeships and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Language support classes will cater to non-English speakers, enhancing their communication skills and increasing their integration into the broader community.
In addition to structured courses, the Learning Lab will offer mentoring, career coaching, and networking events to connect participants with potential employers and industry leaders.
To further support local economic development, the Learning Lab’s facilities will be available for local businesses and enterprises to book, allowing them to conduct business-specific training and upskill their workforce. This collaborative approach ensures that the Learning Lab not only enhances individual skills but also contributes to the growth and success of the wider community.
